Parameters of QWL

There are ten parameters of QWL. Let's discuss them:-

7. Support from superiors

10. Benefits to enhance economic security


Adequate and fair compensation is fundamental to QWL. Human beings work for livelihood. Therefore success of rest of the initiatives depends upon fulfillment of this. However important here is that compensation offered must be adequate implying it must be proportionate.


Work-Life Balance does not mean an equal balance. Trying to schedule an equal number of hours for each of your various work and personal activities is usually unrewarding and unrealistic. Life is and should be more fluid than that.

The core of an effective work-life balance definition is two key everyday concepts that are relevant to each of us. They are daily Achievement and Enjoyment, ideas almost deceptive in their simplicity.

Achieving a good balance between work and personal life and responding to the needs and expectations of an employee play a very crucial role in QWL.


To take care of employees and give a feeling of security to their families is company’s responsibility. Company must provide health insurance to employees with family coverage which makes them feel that company is concerned about them. Company must organize wellness programs for the employees and their families, this helps to build a bond between employees and company. This is a very important aspect which improves the QWL of an employee.


It is related to career aspects of employees. Meaningful career paths must be laid down & career mapping of employees is to be followed. The provision of advancement opportunities plays a central role in QWL.


The jobs have become routine, meaningless and too specialized depriving the employees of fulfillment satisfaction. Therefore efforts should be made to increase the autonomy, perspective & exposure to multiple skills.


Employees like to be a part of an organization where their voices are heard and opinions really matter. The greater an employee’s involvement in decision-making process, the greater employee relies on management decisions which contribute in their QWL.

A good senior makes a major difference in one’s QWL. Rude, irritating and less supportive superior makes the employee frustrated. Good superior try to make good relation with his juniors, if the employee is disturb because of some reason it’s the duty of superior that he try to find the reason and make such a relationship that one easily share even personal problem with him. Supportive senior also become the employees motivation.


Employees should not be allowed to continuously exert themselves. The continuous hard work causes psychological and physical strains. Organization must create proper work offs to enrich the life of employees. Organizations must provide some stress relief programs to employees to make them feel energetic for new challenges.


Working environment and the organization culture play a decisive role in QWL. Relationship among the employees is an indicator of healthy work organization. Therefore opportunities must be provided for formal and informal interactions. People from diverse background and designations must be treated equally on a social platform. In other words it create egalitarian environment.


Employees are the pillars of any organization. So these pillars must be strong to take the load of whole organization. So it is the duty of the organization to enhance their economic security. Whenever they need a major economic help organization must always be there to help them as much as possible. Salary loans or study loans for their children as per the provision gives the sense of security from organization’s side.
